“It was when I stopped searching for home within others and lifted the foundations of home within myself I found there were no roots more intimate than those between a mind and body that have decided to be whole.” - Rupi Kaur

4 Spiritual Practices to Help You Feel More Grounded

feel more grounded

1. Aromatherapy

Smell has an incredible ability to bring us into the present moment. More specifically certain scents and aromas have calming powers that reduce anxiety help to ground us. Here are my six favorite scents that will help you feel more calm:

  1. Lavender
  2. Peppermint
  3. Chamomile
  4. Jasmine
  5. Vanilla
  6. Cucumber

Also here are some ways to introduce aromatherapy into your self-care practice:

  • Meditation Candles
  • Essential Oil Diffusers
  • Burning Incense

2. Let it Go Prayer or Mindful Intention

Either through prayer to the God you serve or mindful intention during meditation and life, setting the intention to let things go will help you feel more stable and safe. Trusting in something bigger than you and deciding to let go of worries, ruminating thoughts, and other stress is a powerful spiritual practice. Praying for the wisdom to let go of things you cannot not control, sets you up for a winning perspective on life.

3. Sage Purification Ritual

Saging is ancient spiritual practice that has been around for ages. Sage is fragrant herb that, when burned, is believed to have many purifying properties. Using a sage smudge stick and a feather, use the smoke from the sage as a ritual symbolizing the purification of your aura. Take the ritual seriously and allow your mind to contemplate cleansing itself of unnecessary burdens as you sage the area around you.

4. Purpose Work

One of the best spiritual practices that will help you feel more grounded and calm is purpose work. This is separate than working on your vision and manifestation. Purpose work is taking time to contemplate why you were put on this Earth and how you can align your vision with your destined purpose. By aligning with this purpose, once again you go from enduring the stress of having to control every aspect of your life to relying on something greater than yourself. This is a key aspect to feeling grounded, stable, and safe. Walking in your purpose also helps to combat feelings of anxiety about the future.

I hope these spiritual practices help reconnect you with your roots and foundation. Practices rituals like these are great ways to take a step back from life and find grounding in Spirit.
