Get Out of Your Head: How to stop Worrying Thoughts and Negative Internal Dialogue

Thought Stopping Technique to help you on your conscious journey to become more mindful.

“A man's mind may be likened to a garden, which may be intelligently cultivated or allowed to run wild; but whether cultivated or neglected, it must, and will, bring forth. If no useful seeds are put into it, then an abundance of useless weed seeds will fall therein, and will continue to produce their kind.” - James Allen

Conscious Lifestyle

Many of us are taking the more mindful path, and making a commitment to live more conscious lifestyles. Part of being mindful is the ability to begin to recognize that every thought you have is not the truth nor does every thought we have serve us. Our inner observer begins to separate thoughts from truth, which is great.

Associated Challenges

However as we become more mindful in our daily lives it is a common experience to notice worrying and ruminating thoughts. The problem comes when you want to change your pattern of thinking and perhaps decrease your amount of worry and rumination. I will tell you an effective way to start this process and begin to reduce worrying or difficult thoughts.

There are several versions of this thought stopping technique, and this is my conscious spin that I personally use.

Les Brown introduced me to the James Allen quote above comparing the mind to a garden. We must tend to our thoughts or the weeds of negative thinking and worry will take over. Take your mindfulness practice one step further and STOP the weeds growing in your beautiful garden.
