Let’s get started and I want to encourage you to stick around to end of this video because there are good gems here that can really make a difference in your lng term happiness.
Many people walk around reacting to life in the short term, only to look up find themselves unfulfilled. I want to flip that on its head for you and give you valuable strategies that will help you plan and manifest long term goals that will make your life more meaningful.
ONE: The first thing I want to share with you when it comes to planning and manifesting your long term goals is the concept of reverse engineering.
Reverse engineering is starting with what you want, and in a stepwise way working backwards by breaking up your larger goal into small pieces.
And there are 4 things I want you to remember when it comes to setting these large goals that you will be starting with:
- Your values and intentions for your overall life
- Shoot for the moon with these larger long term goals.
- Les Brown — 'Shoot for the moon. Even if you miss, you'll land among the stars.'
- The modAmbition goal planner walks you through how to do this
- Be explicit about why you want each long term goal you set. This will help you stay motivated along your journey.
- If you have any resistance try being more general or focusing on what you can control in that long term goal.
TWO: Moving on to tip #2 for planning and manifesting your long term goals, which is to jump from star to star until you get to your moon goal.
What I mean by this is to begin the reverse engineering process by setting smaller star goals which will act as objectives that move you closer to what you are trying to manifest.
So for each moon goal, I suggest writing down 3 SMART goals.
Fun fact: A study by researcher and psychologist Gail Matthews found that you are 42% more likely to achieve your goals when you write them down and even more impressive:
You are 76% more likely to achieve your goals if you write action commitments and check in weekly with your progress.
Which is why I designed the modAmbition goal planner to be infused with conscious work at each important milestone (quarter, month, week, and days) to help you stay on track with your long term goals.
The planner is relaunching Dec 2, and this will be a limited production so if you don’t want to miss out be sure to get on the waitlist to be notified here:

Also here are some other things to consider when making these SMART start goals:
- Prioritize and organize them
- Create routines and systems to infuse these actions into your life
- Create star goals that help prepare you and your lifestyle for the long term goals you are hoping to manifest
THREE: Tip three is to become an expert in delayed gratification
Curtis Martin said, “Never let a short term desire get in the way of a long term goal.”
According to britannia.com: delay of gratification, the act of resisting an impulse to take an immediately available reward in the hope of obtaining a more-valued reward in the future. The ability to delay gratification is essential to self-regulation, or self-control.
Getting my PhD was one certainly a tool to help me become more disciplined and practice delayed gratification in order to meet a long term goal.
- There so many times I wanted to quit
- I wasn’t making money
- The work was hard
- And graduation and licensure many times felt like a distant dream
- What helped me last the long haul and finally manifest this goal was
- Discipline
- Keeping my eye on the prize
- Expecting my goal as inevitable
- Learning to stop avoiding the pain and challenges of the program
- Commit to value driven action
FOUR: As my 4th tip I do want to offer you some things to keep in mind when planning and manifesting long term goals:
- Consider your season of lifet
- Create a long term wellness binder to keep long term goals and archive yearly goal work like vision boards.
